Bio

Marcie Hanna, MSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker having received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Social Work from San Diego State University.  Additionally, Marcie earned an Intergenerational Specialist Post-graduate Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Certificate in Women’s Ministries from Light University.

 

During her tenure at the County of San Diego’s Aging & Independence Services, Marcie developed, implemented and managed the Intergenerational Program.  In this position, Marcie established her role as a national expert in the field and became a nationally-recognized speaker on intergenerational programs and approaches. Marcie also worked for the County of San Diego as a licensed mental health clinician serving on an Adult Protective Services team, as an Elder Care Consultant with LivHOME, a hospice social worker for Silverado, and as the manager of marketing and resident relations for Redwood Town Court.

 

In 2014, Marcie was delighted to join the team at the San Diego Elder Law Center (SDELC) as their Community Affairs Director acting as liaison for the firm to the elder and special needs, professional health care, legal and financial communities.  Marcie is a valuable addition in the mission of service and advocacy to the elder and special needs communities, their families and caregivers. Her role also includes working on the team at SDELC to help clients get the care they need, qualify for any assistance they are entitled to, and advocate for their rights in the health care system.  Marcie is a certified care manager and her care management and clinical supervision experience most recently with LivHOME has proven to be an asset.

 

Marcie is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, and is a Certified Care Manager.   She is also the Director of Education for the American Board of Home Care, on the Advisory Board of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and is on the Board of Directors for the Home of Guiding Hands.  Marcie received the prestigious San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership award for health care in 2013.

 

Marcie puts all of her knowledge, experience, education and service coupled with a gentle and compassionate demeanor into her speaking and brings a lively and engaging delivery of these not-often-talked-about topics.
